The Smokin’ Elder is brewed exclusively at the request of, and for, Dranken Jeroen. Jeroen started at the same time as the brewery, in 2008. Besides being genuine beer fans, Jeroen and his father Rudy are also keen whisky lovers. During one of the brewery’s deliveries to the drinks wholesaler this came up, and the idea was born to develop a whisky beer, exclusively for the wholesaler. After several trial brews and tastings, the choice fell on this unfiltered, straw-yellow blond beer with a typical peat aroma, a firm bitterness from a large amount of Saaz hops and a fresh finish thanks to the use of juniper berries.
